EUROGUSS POSTPONED UNTIL JUNE 2022
PRESS RELEASE December 2021 – New dates: 8-10 June 2022
Same location, same hall layout
EUROGUSS 2022 would have launched the year’s activities for the die-casting industry: Now, the event that was originally scheduled for 18-20 January 2022 has been postponed because of a further dynamic upswing in Covid-19 infections, which may lead to changes in legislation affecting events at short notice. In close consultation and at the request of exhibitors, partners and industry associations, NürnbergMesse has therefore decided to postpone EUROGUSS 2022 to 8-10 June 2022. EUROGUSS, the International Trade Fair for Die Casting Technology, Processes and Products, will then take place at the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg with its customary scope and no change in hall layout. There is, however, still one highlight in the gap between now and June: On 18 January 2022, the European Die Casting Award will be presented, and will be live-streamed along with an industry talk with partners of interest from the die-casting community.
“By postponing EUROGUSS 2022 we are taking on board the concerns of many exhibitors and industry participants with regard to holding an in-person event in January 2022,” says Christopher Boss, Director EUROGUSS at NürnbergMesse. “The political imponderables and the dynamic infection numbers in particular, and the resulting travel bans for many visitors raised doubts about whether it would be possible to meet exhibitor and visitor expectations. We therefore decided to hold EUROGUSS 2022 at a time in the summer when infection numbers in previous years have always been at a much lower level. We are looking forward to being able to welcome the international die-casting industry to Nuremberg in June.
“I would like to thank our partners, the professional associations and our exhibitors for their constructive feedback in recent weeks, as well as their solid commitment to EUROGUSS as the home of the die-casting industry.
Now it is full steam ahead with the planning for June. In principle, however, all the plans will roll over unchanged, since almost all the exhibitors agreed to the change of date. The supporting programme and its highlight, the Die Casting Conference, will take place at the same time in June, since there is still a huge need to interact directly, along with extremely strong interest in holding an in-person trade fair.”
Sector backs change of date
The honorary sponsors and partners of EUROGUSS are backing the change of date. Hartmut Fischer, the Chair of Verband Deutscher Druckgiessereien (Association of German Die-Casting Foundries, VDD), is looking to the future: “Every second year, EUROGUSS is THE event for the die-casting industry. Exhibitors and visitors alike have always been pleased to catch up and interact at EUROGUSS, and see the latest trends, including the wealth of information that the VDD’s Die Casting Conference has to offer. But the fourth wave of the Covid-19 pandemic would make it unreasonable to hold it again in the short term; we would have to be prepared to cancel at short notice based on government requirements. In the die-casting industry we need the interaction offered by EUROGUSS, and we are looking forward with optimism to gathering on the new dates in early June.” Timo Würz, General Secretary CEMAFON (The European Foundry Equipment Suppliers Association), emphasises: “Based on the current infection situation, adhering to the original schedule for EUROGUSS would have implied incalculable planning uncertainties for exhibitors and visitors. The change of date is the right thing to do, and is the only opportunity to ensure we get the high-quality event that visitors and exhibitors at EUROGUSS are used to.” Martin Lagler, Director Product Management & Marketing, Bühler AG, believes postponing EUROGUSS will offer major opportunities: “Given the present circumstances I welcome the fact EUROGUSS is being postponed. The later date will offer the ideal conditions for the entire die-casting industry to interact in person, and for spontaneous meetings between various partners, customers and suppliers.”
Endorsement for the decision also comes from BOHAI TRIMET Automotive GmbH. Managing Director Andreas Kiebel comments: “As long-standing exhibitors at EUROGUSS, we support the decision to postpone the event. Even if the industry urgently needs the personal contact between its members and with the public, we are in favour of nurturing this interaction once again in June under more relaxed circumstances.”
The next EUROGUSS will be held in Nuremberg from 8 to 10 June 2022.
